The Arc will hold it’s Annual Meeting and Awards Presentations on Monday, June 27, 2011. Click on the invitation for all the details. And, complete the nomination form for anyone you feel should receive an award and return it to The Arc office by MAY 25th!
Award Categories
EDUCATOR/TEACHER OF THE YEAR
To be given to an individual, faculty or administrator who exemplifies outstanding dedication towards meeting the needs of students with intellectual and related developmental disabilities.
LARRY SHARP SERVICE AWARD
To be given to a person, organization or business in the community who has contributed in a major way toward the goals and projects of The Arc. This could be through fund raising, programs, or support of an individual with an intellectual or related developmental disability.
COMMUNITY AWARENESS AWARD
To be given to an individual, organization, business, newspaper or one who has contributed in a major way to make the community aware of the goals of The Arc and to help educate the public about the needs and prevention of intellectual and related developmental disabilities.
ADVOCACY AWARD
To be given to an individual, organization, agency or business that has contributed in a major way in advocating for greater opportunities for individuals with intellectual or related developmental disabilities, by individual advocacy for a specific individual or systems advocacy seeking changes in programs, supports, rules or laws, or by leadership in advocacy efforts for individuals with disabilities.
FAMILY OF THE YEAR
A family that has supported The Arc's effort through their hard work which helped The Arc achieve their goals through fund raising, supported employment efforts or volunteering for recreation programs, committees, The Arc board, etc.
EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR
To be given to an employer who exhibits understanding and encouragement of individuals with intellectual and related developmental disabilities through hiring and training them for success on the job.
EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR
To be given to an employee who has an intellectual or related developmental disability and who exemplifies the desired achievements of successful employment (to be verified by his/her employer).
JAMES PATTERSON VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR
This is a special award given to a volunteer to recognize their long years of service and a contribution of time and energies to promote the organization.
